Cell phone games are certainly a popular trend. According to a 2005 survey in Businessweek.com, sourced from Haris Interactive, the cell phone has and is trending for multiple uses. More and more people are not only using the games that come with their phones, but they are also buying cell phone games to download.

In a survey of 2,365 adults, 33% of all respondents indicated they use their cell phone to download and/or play games. Buying a cell phone for gaming may not be the prime reason individuals select their phone, but it is a "toy" for some depending upon the age of the user.

How the statistics break down according to age, is probably not a surprise. When asked who Downloaded or played cell phone games:

Ages 18-34 said 54%
Ages 35-44 said 34%
Ages 45-54 said 26%
Ages  55+   said  11%

Buying games for cell phones is fast becoming a perk many individuals want to use. Whether people are between appointments or needing an immediate way to entertain the kids, cell phone gaming is here to stay, and certainly an interesting trend to follow.
